Q1  What are you doing now?
I work at a startup that improves the efficiency, reliability, and throughput of manufacturing through big data and machine learning.

Q2  How did the Science Fair change your life?
The Science Fair was my first taste of critical thinking in service of a specific end goal. The approach, methodology, and rigor that I learned through the creation of my projects has been invaluable in my day-to-day life. Currently, most projects or tasks that I need to complete at work are treated as their own mini science projects. This way of thinking that the science fair has instilling in me has been immensely helpful in improving my productivity and creativity.

Q3  What did you like the most about the Science Fair?
The Science Fair can be what you want it to be! A project can be anything from the surface-level exploration of wide topic to a gritty, technical, and in-depth analysis of a current system. There are no limits, and no requirements. Anyone can do anything that they enjoy and ultimately share it with others at SEFMD.

Q4  What career advice do you wish someone told you when you were younger? Career advise you wish to share?
Do not worry about where you want to be in 10 years! Do what you currently love to do, do it well, and then search for opportunities. You may end up in a different place than you expect.

Q5  Any specific advice on becoming involved in Science and Engineering?
You do not need to start with immense resources and a full fledged laboratory. As you walk through daily life, find something that interests you, or something that you want to know more about. Be persistent and don't worry about how cool or innovative your idea is. At the end of the day, the Science Fair is meant to serve you, not the other way around.
