Q1  What are you doing now?
Presently, I am a National Institutes of Health T-32 Post-Doctoral Scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles in the Center for HIV Identification, Prevention, and Treatment Services. I investigate the ways religion, race, and politics shape health behavior. I also work on research on cannabis, social equity, and health policy.

Q2  How did the Science Fair change your life?
Participating in the Science Fair gave me my first experience conducting independent research using the scientific method, having my research evaluated, and my research findings disseminated. I also learned how to put together a poster presentation through my participation in the Science Fair, little did I realize I would be using this skill to put together scientific posters in college, graduate school, and in my career as a researcher. In my academic career, I now regularly have my work evaluated by other scholars, I evaluate the work of other researchers, discuss research findings publicly, and present my findings at scientific meetings. The Science Fair provided me with my first exposure to the larger world of science and gave me the recognition which provided me the foundation for my career

Q3  What did you like the most about the Science Fair?
I have always enjoyed learning, inquiry, and scientifice xperimentation. Conducting a longitudinal scientific study in preparation for the Science Fair, I learned how much I enjoyed the scientific method and the research process. I also enjoyed meeting new people and learning about different science projects.

Q4  What career advice do you wish someone told you when you were younger? Career advise you wish to share?
Pursue your passion first and the money will follow.

Q5  Any specific advice on becoming involved in Science and Engineering?
Learn about the paths of people whose careers you wish to emulate. If possible, network and speak to different scientists about their career paths. Most importantly, get involved anddo not allow discouragement or a lack of resources to deter you in your journey
