Jerrold Grossman, PhD
Q1 What are you doing now? |
Retired after a 44-year career as professor of mathematics at Oakland University in Rochester, MI. |
Q2 How did the Science Fair change your life? |
Participating set me on a path of pursuing mathematical research. Meeting like-minded talented young people in St. Louis (ISEF 1965) and Washington (Westinghouse) showed me that there were other people like me and gave me a community to relate to. Success in the Science Fairs probably was influential in gaining admission to the college of my choice. |
Q3 What did you like the most about the Science Fair? |
The competition, the camaraderie, learning about interesting research problems that my peers were investigating. |
Q4 What career advice do you wish someone told you when you were younger? Career advise you wish to share? |
Follow your interests and things will probably work out well. |
Q5 Any specific advice on becoming involved in Science and Engineering? |
Work really hard on your course work, read a lot outside of class, talk to your peers about interesting things you encounter in math and science. |
