Hallie Jones is an advocate and educator of
student success and life-long learning. She attended Marygrove College where
she earned her B.S. in Biology and completed her M.A. in Education
Administration. For the past 34 years,
Hallie has served as a science teacher for the Detroit Public Schools Community
District. Her strong belief and passion
for educating growing youth to become critical thinkers and problem solvers has
resulted in her being recognized as the VFW Post 2233 Teacher of the Year 2019
(James Europe Post), a finalist of the VFW Teacher of the Year for Wayne County
(2019), finalist DPSCD Educator of the Year (2019), Real McCoy Recipient 2014,
and finalist Wayne RESA Teacher of the Year (2002). Most recently, she has found great joy
working as a Chief Judge for the Science and Engineering Fair of Metropolitan
Detroit. In her classroom, Mrs. Jones
develops interactive and thought-provoking lessons centered around Biology,
Physics, and Pre-College Engineering.
Hallie also served as an adjunct instructor at Marygrove College for 10
years, assisting young science educators as they honed their instructional
methods and evaluation skills. She is a
Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP) In-School teacher,
dedicating numerous hours towards assisting her students in planning and
executing intriguing science fair projects for the past 23 years; those
students also participating in the Science and Engineering Fair of Metropolitan
Detroit. Outside of work, Hallie dedicates her time to her husband, James K.
Williams, her children: Sammie, Ardella (Jordan Hamling),
George (Khrystyan), Hallie, and Joshua Williams,
while also serving on the Women’s Guild and Governing Board of Bethany Lutheran
Church, and as an adult leader of Troop 86 of the Boy Scouts of America.
