Professional Awards in Recognition for
Excellence
A special type of award is given by technical societies, professional associations and institutions, government agencies and businesses in addition to the many awards given by the fair itself. These professional awards are intended to stimulate interest in particular career fields. Members of these organizations can also be valuable resources for students during the development of their projects.
The particular awards are varied: plaques, books, certificates, and, in some cases, cash awards. Additionally, some of the organizations invite winners to attend professional meetings, conferences, or dinners. At the 2009 SEFMD, the value of all awards given was close to $100,000.
