ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROJECTS (3rd-5th graders)     revised 12/12/20

1.     Students may do a project alone or in a group of 2-10 students.

2.     Students enter their projects online and must be entered through their school. Schools “affiliate” with the SEFMD online by December 1, 2020.

3.     Elementary school projects (unlike the upper grades) may include models.

4.     Elementary students will enter in one of these four categories:

L1 Individual – Life Science project (individual student)

L2 Group – Life Science project (2-10 students working as a group)

P1 Individual – Physical Science project (individual student)

P2 Group – Physical Science project (2-10 students working as a group)

Life science would include projects related to Animal Science, Behavioral & Social Science, Biology, Earth and Environmental Science, Medicine & Health, and Plant Science. Physical Science would include projects related to Chemistry, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics & Astronomy, Renewable Energy, and Technology & Robotics.

5.     The pdf presentation and the video of the student’s project should not include any of the following:

Student’s name (or names); school name

Photos of other students unless consent is obtained from each

     student

Inappropriate photos (e.g., animals in other than normal conditions)

                        Acknowledgements (mentors; research locations)

6.     Teachers should supervise all projects. Do any collecting/culturing of bacterial samples unless done at

     school
