NEW for 2021 SEFMD and MSEF (Michigan Science Engineering Fair)
(revised 12/29/2020)
·
The science fair will be a VIRTUAL FAIR this year. Preliminary
judging will take place over several days, from Thursday, March 4, 2021 through
Sunday, March 7, 2021. On Wednesday, March 10, 2021 judging of the final round
will occur and will involve on-line interviews with the top 50 senior students.
·
3rd-5th graders may now enter the SEFMD Science Fair.
Follow this link1 for additional
information and specific requirements for the Elementary Division. Students
may carry out individual projects or work in groups of 2-10 students.
·
Students in all grades will be required to submit
all information online and more information will be included than in
previous years, depending on the grade level. The online entry form will guide
you through everything you need. All students must upload a 5-minute
(maximum) video link of their presentation. In addition, they must upload a
pdf file of their “Project Presentation”. This replaces a display
board but includes the items which would normally be on a display board. There
are specific guidelines for HOW to do the project presentation at this link1 . Up
to three additional photos of their project may also be uploaded.
·
All Senior Division students that require prior SRC
approval (check here), must submit their
information online by December 1. We will NOT accept hard copy forms.
·
Projects will
still be checked for Display and Safety Violations. All materials submitted on
line by March 1 will be checked and if there are any problems (for example,
acknowledgements are included or inappropriate photos), the student will
receive an email and be allowed to modify their entry within 24 hours.
·
The entry fee will be $20/project (individual or team)
for senior division projects. For the elementary or junior divisions, the fee
will be $15/project (individual or team). If a school elects to have
students pay for their entry fees, the fee will be $40/project. The entry fee for MSEF students (Senior
Division only) is $75/project.
·
A SEFMD Release Form is required of all projects for
2021. The form must be signed by the
student and the parent (or legal guardian) and uploaded via the student’s entry
form process by 5:00 PM on 3/1/2021.
Failure to do so will disqualify the student project. The Release Form is available under the
resources page and here
