Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit

Judge information for 2023-2024 Fair

Judges will be asked to select their availability for judging on the judge application.  All judges should complete and/or update their information on the current application.  The application is for category judges AND those judging professional awards.  Please note:  the REGIONAL (SEFMD)Science Fair will be HYBRID for 2024.  Judges are needed for the Virtual Fair (about 25%) and for the in person fair (about 75%).  The statewide MSEF will be LIVE ONLY on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at LTU.

There will be MULTIPLE different judging sessions, 

   VIRTUAL - Session 0 consists of a Display and Safety review of all the projects from March 8, 2024 to March 10, 2024.  Project material is reviewed and the project is certified ok for judging or flagged with required corrective actions. 

   VIRTUAL - Session 1 occurs VIRTUALLY from March 11, 2024 starting at 8:00 AM and continues until March 16, 2024 at 5:00 PM.  Judges will review entries submitted online (includes a video and pdf of a 'project presentation').

 
   IN PERSON - Session 0 consists of a Display and Safety review of all the projects at Huntington Place on March 19, 2024 from 8 AM to 7 PM.  Project material is reviewed and the project is certified ok for judging or flagged with required corrective actions.

   IN PERSON - Session 1 occurs IN PERSON at Huntington Place on March 20 from 8:00 AM to 4 PM.    Judges will review entries submitted and on display.  Judges may elect to judge only the morning session, or all day (preferred) 

 IN PERSON - Session 2 occurs IN PERSON at Huntington Place on March 20 from noon to 4:30 PM and consists of top senior division projects from the morning session.

IN PERSON - MSEF occurs IN PERSON at Lawrence Tech University from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and consists of the top 70 projects in the State of Michigan.

  

Please provide the information requested below if you desire to be a judge.  If you have judged before, we still need you to go through the application.  We will contact you after we receive your application,, by e-mail (preferably) or regular mail.

Judges will be expected to help with multiple categories and/or divisions.

PROFESSIONAL AWARD ORGANIZATIONS
Professional award judges will also carry out their judging (done virtually) starting March 11 at 8:00 AM and will conclude at 3:00  PM on Wednesday, March 20
  All judges, even pofessional award organization judges, will need to register online to obtain a username/password to access the student information.  We can not longer accept just a list of judge names.
