and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit
Judge information for 2021-2022 Fair
Judges will be asked to select their availability for judging on the
judge application. All judges should complete and/or update their
information on the current application. The application is for
category judges AND those judging professional awards. Please
note: As of 12/14/2021, the Science Fair will be VIRTUAL ONLY for
2022. Look for changes on the web site in the next few days
There will be FOUR different judging sessions,

Session 0 consists of a Display and Safety review of all the
projects from March 5 to March 9. Project material is reviewed and the
project is certified ok for judging or flagged with required corrective
actions.
Session 1 occurs VIRTUALLY from March 11, 2022, starting at 8:00 AM
and continues until March 14, 2022 at 5:00 PM. Judges will
review entries submitted online (includes a video and pdf of a 'project
presentation' and pre-screen/prejudge them as to top 35%, Middle 50%, or
Bottom 15%. Only those projects in the top 35% will make it to session
2. Each judge will review 50-75 projects. Detailed scoring is not
used.
Session 2 occurs VIRTUALLY from March 15, 2022, starting at
8:00 AM
and continues until March 16, 2022 at 5:00 PM (Absolute deadline is March 17, 2022 at 5:00 PM). Judges will
review entries submitted online (includes a video and pdf of a 'project
presentation' and score them individually. Only the top 35% of
projects will be included in this round. Each judge will review
20-25 projects
Session 3 occurs on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 9:00 AM to
noon
and will be VIA ZOOM one on one interviews. There will be a total of 60 projects (all in the
senior division) which include the top projects from each of the categories.
Each judge will interview 12-14 projects..
Judges may be expected to help with
multiple categories and/or divisions.
